I'm Taking it back!

I am excited about our date night,I know that this is something we need to make time for, however we just don't do that like we should. I think thats why I am so looking forward to going out tonight just the 2 of us. I really miss they days when we used to work together and go home together, we were together all of the time and even though people need time away from each other and stuff, I haven't felt as close as we were then. I hope that I can make this a new ritual and feel that type of bond we used to have again. I hate how life comes in and takes over and then before you know it life owns you! I'm taking it back!
I love you Nick!

This one's for you Daniel!

OK so it's been FOREVER since I have been on here. School started for the kids, work started for me, then life has rubbed its slimy self all over too!
After a momentary lapse of judgement I signed up in march to run Beachpalooza waaaaayyy in September, I started training and was getting into it, then summer hit, and I checked out! However, September came anyway and I ran the race and had a blast, Warrior Dash is next on the list! March 17th its mud time!!!
I have 2 friends who announced their pregnancies shortly before summer and I thought "Hey! I know I'll make them baby quilts!!" yeah and it was over. I looked all over for about 3 months for fabrics to math their themes, and FINALLY found some.  Wouldn't you know it, that as soon as I sat down and started one baby, who shall remain nameless, greeted us about 3 weeks early!!! I hadn't even started his quilt at the time because I knew I had more time and the other baby was due before him. Well I feverishly started sewing away on his blanket and then baby number 2 who was baby number 1 came a week early also! Stress, stress, stress and I'm not even the new mommy! Lesson that I learned you ask? Let the blankets be a surprise next time! That way there's no stress! Anyway, I'm almost finished and I had fun making them! My machine has even been cooperating!
I recently even checked out a few books from the Harris County Public Library! I must have been feeling ill, because the first book I read... Hamlet, by THE William Shakespeare! I know I go from reading People magazine to that?! Something must be wrong! I read it and I enjoyed it! *Pat on the back*
Ya know after that crazy summer with no rain and HUGE water and electric bills, In August I gave up watering my watermelons and tomatoes etc, figuring they would never make it; but lo & behold I have had 4 watermelons grow and about a billion tomatoes. So now I feel like they were just screwing with me, however I am pretty sure I will be the only one with a winter watermelon harvest! In case you are wondering, I am willing to part with them for a mere $40 bucks a melon! :)
That's no where near all from my side but that's all I will bore you with in this blog!
I'll be posting pics of the blankets and in a few weeks, its CHRISTMAS TREE FARM day!!!! Yay! Hay ride, tire rolls, smores, hot cider, and of course the picking and cutting down of our Christmas tree! I can't believe its November already! And only 3 more days till an extra hour!!! WOOOOHOOOO!!!!
Talk to yall later!

Made it through the first week of school!

So the first week of school is over. My baby girl is officially a Kindergartener, and has left mama behind. She loves going to school, and loves riding the bus home with her brother. My baby boy is a fifth grader! Where does the time go? It seems like such a short time ago I was carring him around and helping him do everything! He needs me a little more than his sister does but not very much. He is going to be 11 in September. I can't believe I have a child that old!  I couldn't dream of having different children, even through all the sibling fighting and crazy loudness that makes up my house.
Work starts for me on the 6th so I have a few more days to keep cleaning up my house and undoing all that has been done over the summer! I'm not gonna lie, I usually don't ever get it done. I just might make it this time, I am already ahead of the game, and I am getting in a routine.  Until next time!

My Baby Girl is 5!!

Blowing out the candles with the fam last night

So today my sweet baby girl is 5 years old. I can't believe it! Five years ago I woke up at 5 am to go to the hospital to be induced. Timothy was 5 years old and it was 3 days before his first day of Kindergarten. I remember being so worried about what he would think seeing me all hooked up to IVs and machines. I worried about how I was going to make sure he wasn't going to feel left out. I struggled with how I was going to be able to love 2 kids the same ammount and the same way, and of course I was worried I wasn't going to be released from the hospital in time to see him on his first day of Big kid school! Seven short hours after I was induced I had my little girl in my arms. I had no idea how I would ever take care of a girl, they are so bossy and snotty and have such attitudes! She was absolutely wonderful and still is! She loves to sing and dance, randomly disrobe and run around the house, oh and she totally has an attitude! She loves make-up and jewelry, yet through all the girly-girl stuff she loves to get dirty, go camping, swimming, hiking, fishing and other boy stuff like that. She is a perfect fit in our family, there isn't a thing she doesn't like that we like;except tomatoes and mushrooms! She is loud and boisterous yet at the same time she is very caring and loving. I was incapeable of imagining how she would be when she could talk and walk, when her personality showed, and I wouldn't change a thing about her; except maybe the like of tomatoes and mushrooms! :o)
Fast forward 5 years, baby is starting Kindergarten in a week, she going to be riding the bus with her big brother and leaving old mom behind. Ya know I pride myself on being strong and in control of my emotions but I secretly have moments where I get that tell-tell lump in my throat and I start getting teary. Shes my baby, my little mini-me that's always by my side and she not gonna be there with me every day anymore. :(
I'm super excited for and with her, but I can't help but think if its this hard sending my baby to school, I can not even fathom whats going to happen when I have to send her off to college or when she gets married! I wish you could just stop time or slow it down just a bit, cause these moments will never happen again and I'm having a hard time letting go.
(can't get it to rotate) My baby girl with her new earrings and jewelry box
Ok thats enough of all the emotional stuff. On the bright side I will actually get one day a week without a child near me! I will get 2 hours a day alone after work before the kids get off the bus! I'm seeing pedicures in my future! My baby girl is 5 years old, a whole hand old today!
Now I hope this kindergarten thing helps prepare me for my sweet first born, smart as a whip handsome son going to middle school next year! I can't believe my kids are this old! I'm off to hug and kiss them now, while they still let me! :o)

Her birthday cup cake this morning!

Ice Cream and Texas history! Is there anything better?

So we spent the day in the country, Blue Bell country that is!
The kids had not been before, and they loved it, however I think the end where they get the free ice cream was the part they liked best! During the summers they don't show the video and they rush you though your tour. Non-the-less it was a good tour, and the Ice cream was the best;it is Blue Bell, duh!
Next trip I am thinking will be in September for the Washington County Fair, yeehaww!

Leaky Pipes

Not too happy right now! Two days ago I layed down in bed with my daughter to read with her; as I looked up at the ceiling my eyes quickly fixated on a large brown spot! GRRRR!!!! So its 1 of 2 things I said; either a leaky pipe or a leaky roof! Neither of which I care to undertake at the present time. So I sent hubby up to the attic and he discovered it was a tiny pin hole leak (surrounded by rust) in one of our 30 year old pipes, YAY! So then I think well thats gonna cost more than a new roof, or the repairs on our 4 year old roof. GRRRRR, again! After inspecting the pipe and taping it up (temporary fix), we think "maybe, we could replace that piece of pipe ourselves?" Fast forward 2 days filled with swimming, snow cone making, and"exploring in the woods". I walk in the kitchen after coming home from the pool and what do my eyes instantly, magnetically go to? If you guessed,"yet another brown spot in the ceiling" you win! Only this time I don't know what its attached to or coming from! But I will venture to guess its another leaky pipe!
Yes I know my house is 30 years old, and yes I know its probably time but, I would still like to pass some of the blame on to our dear water district! About 6 months ago they decided (with the States prodding) that we must all change to surface water. That in turn changed the chemical make up of our water and is causing our pipes to be cleaned of all particles in them. Including the fragile rust that holds them in their nice "pipe shape".
I see a re-piping in my near future, or baths with the hose outside!
Who wants to lend me a few thousand?  Ahh, the joys of home-ownership!
Until next time, I am off to ignore the problem (sewing), hey maybe it'll go away?

Am I a Blogger? Only time will tell!

Ok so here goes nothing! For those of you who may not know me, My name is Lesley. I am the mother of two wonderful kiddos, and the owner of one crazy husband. We have 2 dogs and 2 fish; of course we started off with 14 fish so who knows that 2 maybe 1 tomorrow! I teach preschool and love to do crafty things! I sew, and quilt, and make bath salts. This blog will be about the craziness that is my life, and I will showcase some of my crafty things from time to time as well.
For those of you who do know me already, wow that was boring huh?
I hope to get better with my future blogs. If I don't I apologize for wasting your time and I'll never blog again!
